LP, 24 june, Arenele Romane

The concert is part of the tour to promote the artist’s fifth album,

Heart To Mouth

LP, the artist whose unmistakable voice conquered the whole planet with the release of the hit “Lost On You” returns with her third concert in Bucharest, on June 24, at Arenele Romane, and will bring to the audience songs from her fifth album, announces the organizers of the event, Events.

Heart To Mouth is the closest manifesto to the way LP sees his music – no filters, no censorship and no flourishes.

“When I get in front of the microphone and start making music, I feel like there’s a direct path from my heart to my mouth,” she says. “In the past, it felt like a city full of streets that constantly needed my attention. Now, I feel like there is a main highway to communicate my emotions. Whether it’s sadder tracks or impactful songs, they all come from the same place.” He paved the way for that highway in 2015 with the song “Lost On You.” The artist’s biggest hit to date, it has surpassed 500 million listens and gone platinum in Russia, Poland, Greece, Switzerland, Italy, France and many territories. The total number of views of the videos of the songs “Lost On You”, “Muddy Waters” and “When We’re High” exceeded 280 million in one year while publications like Billboard, Paper, Out Magazine, V Magazine, Interview, British Vogue and more placed her on the heights of fame. What’s more, compared to performances that stopped hearts for a moment from The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and The Late Show with James Corden, to Conan and Jools Holland, LP has also delighted audiences at Coachella, Osheaga, Outside Lands and Mad Cool.

Building on his hard-earned confidence and using his status as an independent artist with something important to say, he began gathering ideas for this latest album as early as 2017, working with Lost On You collaborator and producer Mike Del Rio [Eminem, X Ambassadors, Skylar Gray] and writer Nathaniel Campany.

“I’ve learned a lot over the years in terms of what I want for myself, what I want to say, what I want to convey to people and what I want to do,” she continues. “Ultimately, I can be who I want to be and in what way I want to be. It all stems from freedom in my work. I don’t have to ask anyone’s permission I can be myself and I really have things I want to say. None of us gets through life unscathed, but at least we can write about what happened to us. ”

And LP even wrote about the personal experience Heart To Mouth is the sound of an artist unable to contain himself. Instead, it speaks honestly about love, longing, fear, insecurity, infidelity, regret and redemption. The effervescent sound of the first single, “Girls Go Wild” presents her as the “outcast on the outside”. Meanwhile, the piano chords of the next track, “Recovery,” highlight the pain of a cheating lover, while the chorus mirrors the raw pain and strength in the track “I’m In Recovery.” “Ironically, I wrote the album from the perspective of my ex-partner being cheated on, and then I ended up in the same position not long after,” LP admits. “The feeling is awful. You never know until you’re on both sides of the situation. It’s awful to break someone’s heart but it’s even more awful to have it happen to you. ” Later on the album, she adds a “haunted feeling “to the soulful vocal artifice on “Die For Your Love.” The delicately wielded guitar and whispered words of “One Night In The Sun” describe a relationship in its final moments from a poetic and longing perspective. Another track, “Dreamer,” relies on a somber, bluesy hum as she reveals her frustrations with “a lover who has big dreams, but won’t do anything to make his dreams come true.”

“I can go through a whole range of emotions in a day,” she says. “I’ve learned how to express myself more succinctly, with fewer words. That was the goal. There isn’t much.”

With this album, LP brings all of her feelings out into the open, and it sounds good as hell.

“I’m lucky to have an audience that understands,” she concludes. “They can see and hear that I’ve been through a lot to get to this point and they appreciate that, because it happens to all of us, from cradle to grave. I’m just here to sing about it. If you like it, great, because I do. If you don’t, fuck it,’ LP laughs.
