Drink Pink Martini in May!

The Pink Martini orchestra returns to Bucharest on May 26 at the Palace Hall, with a tour promoting the album "A Retrospective".

For Pink Martini, the stops in Romania had become a tradition, members of the "littleorchestra" saying that they feel here as good as home. With a sound that combines influences ranging from Cuban jazz and chamber music to Brazilian marches and film noir soundtracks, the 12 members orchestra originating from Portland, Oregon, have displayed so far their multilingual repertoire on stages worldwide. Their vintage music, sophisticated, cosmopolitan, is a nocturnal walk through major ports and cities of the world, showing their stories and their fragrance. Middle East, through the ports of Istanbul, Naples and Lisbon, the cafes of Paris or Brazilian beaches ... Pink Martini concerts exclude the risk of monotony.

"Pink Martini draws inspiration from the romantic Hollywood musicals of the 1940s or '50s … with a more global perspective. We write a lot of songs … but we also champion songs like Ernesto Lecuona's "Andalucia"or "Amado mio" from the Rita Hayworth film "Gilda". In that sense we're a bit like musical archeologists, digging through recordings and scores of years past and rediscovering beautiful songs."

Following the album "A Retrospective" concert on May 26 will be a review of their 16-year career and includes Pink Martini most popular pieces: "Una Notte a Napoli", "Hang On Little Tomato", "¿Donde Estas Yolanda?", "Hey Eugene", "Sympathique (Je ne veux pas travailler)", "Lilly", "Que Sera Sera" or "Amado Mio".
